Georgia Interfaith Power & Light is hard at work developing ways for congregations to put their faith into action in caring for God's Creation. Since 2003, we have been working with faith communities to become active and responsible stewards of creation, with a focus on energy conservation. Through our Energy Audit Pilot Program, we are providing concrete steps for congregations to take to increase their energy efficiency and use resources more responsibly. With our Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb (CFL) sales, we have spread the word about energy conservation while helping people to take action right in their own homes. And our worship resources and study guides are used by congregations to ground these concerns in their faith tradition, incorporating Creation care into worship services and educational programs. We invite you to join us as we work to preserve God's Creation!

Originally an all-volunteer organization, GIPL hired Katy Hinman as Executive Director in November 2004 and Jennifer Downs as Associate Director for Outreach in July 2006. After Jennifer's son, Dexter, was born in November 2007, she stepped down as Associate Director, remaining active with GIPL's policy work. In September 2008, GIPL hired Alexis Chase as the new Director for Communications and Outreach. In 2009 Katy Hinman stepped down as ED to pursue ordination in the Methodist Church and Alexis took over as Interim ED. On February 1, 2010 Alexis was hired as Executive Director.

GIPL has an active Board of Directors and four action committees - Membership, Empowerment, Enlightenment, and Policy.

"The faith community has led every major movement in the US including the abolition of slavery, a woman's right to vote and most recently the civil rights movement. We are involved now, working for the health of Creation and I think we will succeed in creating a sustainable future. No institution is more suited to preach clean air, water and land than the institution that professes a love of God and God's creation."

- Rev. Sally Bingham, Founder of the Interfaith Power & Light movement
