Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church Receives Matching Grant
4/30/2012

Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point received a Power Wise Energy Audit of their 45,410 ft2 facilities in August 2011. Their Energy Audit Report suggested several Energy Conservation Measures, including blow insulation in their attic and retrofitting the T-12 florescent lighting in the sanctuary and main office building.
Estimated annual energy savings from the insulation is $1,716, while
annual energy savings for the lighting upgrade is around $1,000.
The congregation applied for a Matching Grant in November 2011 and received $3,000 to make these changes. The congregation already has an in-house recycling program and encourages congregants to recycle at home as well, and they're working to form a creation care team.
The congregation was one of fourteen faith communities that
were awarded a total of $81,816 in Energy Improvement
Matching Grants in November 2011. The next round of Matching Grants
applications are due on May 15, 2012.
Matching Grant applications are on our website. Up to $10,000 is available to
congregations interested in implementing suggestions from their Power Wise Energy
Audits to reduce energy consumption and costs. Applicants must be
up to date in the Monthly Bills Tracking System, which is a new
requirement for this cycle.
