Environmental Forum II: The Built Environment – How Healthy Is Your Neighborhood?

June 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

District 4 Councilwoman Naeema Gilyard in partnership with Zion Hill Baptist Church and GIPL will host Part II of a three-part environmental series.  Citizens attending the Thursday event will participate in roundtable breakout sessions facilitated by experts focused in the following four areas:

  1. Health Impacts of the Built Environment.
  1. Healthy Behavior Drivers such as Nutrition, Food Choices, and Health Services.
  1. Environmental Stressors, including Air and Noise Pollution, and the Health Impacts.
  1. Legal Methods to Improve the Built Environment.

Citizens will discuss their personal environment as it relates to the above areas, identify concerns or interest, and work collaboratively within their groups to devise solutions to address their needs.  This project is designed to continue the environmental community initiatives in the District with the goal of assisting citizens to understand what quality looks like and empowering them to work for quality in their community, based on documented research and literature that provides a roadmap to obtain it.

The forum is free and open to the public. Questions should be directed to nakia.romans@cityofsouthfultonga.gov or 470-809-7704.
