IHM Interfaith Food Security Dinner

March 19 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

$10

In 2017, an estimated 1 in 8 Americans were food insecure.
In real terms, this equates to 40 million Americans of all ethnic backgrounds,
living in urban, suburban, and rural areas, and includes more than 12 million children.

Justice and Peace Ministries and the Laudato Si Action Team of Immaculate Heart of Mary invite you to an Interfaith Food Security Dinner on Tuesday, March 19, at Immaculate Heart of Mary.  This event will take place in the Historic Church. The IHM Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Social Justice Committee are co-hosting this interfaith evening, which will begin a local conversation as part of an ongoing series, Food and Garden as Social Obligation.  We will look at our call as people of faith to feed the hungry and combat food insecurity in our local community. REGISTER TODAY!

We will gather at 6:00 p.m. for a social.  Monsignor Albert Jowdy, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, will lead a blessing over the food before dinner at 6:30.  Over the course of our locally sourced meal, we will hear from Kat Doyle, Director of Justice and Peace Ministries, speak on gardening and food waste, and John Berry, CEO of St. Vincent de Paul Georgia, will present on food security.

All faith traditions are welcome.  We are asking for a $10 donation to help offset the cost of the meal.  Please let us know if you need financial assistance or need to pay at the door.  If you have any questions, please contact Nikki VanDerGrinten, at nikkivdg71@gmail.com or 770-986-4996.
