Join GIPL at the Big Canoe Nature Festival
June 23, 2018 - June 24, 2018
Feeling lost in your Creation Care/Green Team work? Wondering how faith and climate change intersect? Or, do you just need a weekend away from the busyness of the city? Join the GIPL team and friends for a free workshop on Sacred Activism, Saturday, June 23, 2:30 – 5:30pm at the Big Canoe Nature Festival.
Based on the work of Joanna Macy, this participatory workshop addresses many of the environmental and cultural problems we are facing. The workshop is designed to help transform fear and despair into inspiration and a sense of empowerment. Through this work, attendees will leave with a better understanding of how we can each be change agents, working towards a healthier planet collectively and leading environmental stewardship efforts within one’s community of faith.
All workshop attendees will have the opportunity to apply for a GIPL Four Directions Fund seed grant of up to $300. Funding can be used towards the applicant’s environmental project of choice. GIPL Board Member, Beth Remmes will lead the Sacred Activism Workshop.
The Big Canoe Nature Festival is free as well and will run the weekend of June 23 – 24, 2018. Environmentalist & Chair of the Captain Planet Foundation, Laura Turner Seydel is the featured speaker for the weekend! This weekend will be full of fun for the entire family!
Register for the Sacred Activism Workshop! It’s free! Big Canoe is a gated community. We must have your name in advance to ensure entry into the festival.
