The Faculty

Carol Bartlett is the founder of Georgia Interfaith Power & Light where she has been at the center of its growth over the last few years.  She has taught English at Georgia State University and DeVry University and worked in the Center for Teaching and Learning at Georgia Tech.  She currently teaches at Shorter College and does consultations with schools and nonprofit groups.

Dr. Dabney Dixon is a Professor of Bioorganic Chemistry at Georgia State University.  She received her B.A. from Brown University in 1971 and her Ph.D. from MIT in 1976.  Her research involves the design of new pharmaceutical agents and studies of the mechanism of heme uptake.  

Dr. Dan May has a Ph.D. in biochemistry and taught at Earlham College and Mercer University.  He was then an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control.  Dan is an active member of the Atlanta Friends Meeting and on the Steering Committee of GIPL.

Dr. Katy Hinman is the Executive Director of Georgia Interfaith Power & Light.  A graduate of Carleton College, she has a Ph.D. from the Department of Ecology and Evolution, State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Masters of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

The Rev. Woody Bartlett is a retired Episcopal priest and, along with his wife Carol, the co-founder of Georgia Interfaith Power & Light.  During his career, Woody had an active interest in involving the church in the world around it.  For the last twenty years he has focused this interest in the relationship between human beings and the creation.  He is the author of Living By Surprise: A Christian Response to the Ecological Crisis.

Jennifer Downs is the former Associate Director for Outreach of Georgia Interfaith Power & Light.  A graduate of Auburn University, she has a Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School.
