Individual Covenants are a way to help your congregation members decide upon particular actions they wish to take to demonstrate their care for creation. These can be used as part of your larger Power Lite campaign not only to educate congregants about what they can do to be better stewards of the environment, but also as a way to track the actions taking place within your congregation to help in setting goals for becoming a carbon-neutral congregation.
You may use the GIPL Individual Covenant cards as is, or we can help you develop cards that reflect the focus and goals of your congregation’s Power Lite program. These covenants may also be used as pledge cards in creation stewardship campaigns run in conjunction with financial stewardship campaigns.
The Individual Covenant asks congregants to commit to one or more actions that demonstrate good stewardship of creation including a home energy audit, use of compact fluorescent light bulbs, education, responsible driving practices, purchase of energy efficient appliances, and other steps that will help reduce carbon emissions.
