Cool the Planet through Georgia Interfaith Power & Light’s new low-carbon diet

One of the largest negative impacts on God’s Creation is the way we generate and use electricity. Most electricity in Georgia is generated from coal-burning plants, which dirty our air and water and contribute significantly to global warming. Use less electricity; cause less damage. We will work with you to change the way you live so that together we can make a difference to the Creation. Carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the major emissions from coal-fired electricity generation, is a greenhouse gas and a key contributor to global warming. As well, CO2 emissions are accompanied by emissions of other pollutants, including nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxides, and mercury, which contribute to harmful smog, acid rain, and water pollution. So when you take steps to reduce carbon emissions through lower energy usage, you also reduce other pollution.

Georgia Interfaith Power & Light will help your congregation adopt a Low Carbon Lifestyle when you choose from our menu of options:

For Congregations

Goal Setting - We will help the congregation set realistic carbon dioxide reduction goals, make a plan to reach those goals and give you ways to chart your progress.

Congregational Covenant - To formalize your congregation’s commitment to care of creation, we ask that you sign a Congregational Covenant and become official members of Georgia Interfaith Power & Light.
